Domaine Habrard presentation
Domaine HABRARD is located in Gervans, a charming little village in the heart of the Crozes-Hermitage, appellation area, in the Northern Côtes du Rhône region.
The HABRARD family has now cultivated the vine with energy and passion for 5 generations. Over time and generations, the winery has seen some significant modifications.
Originally located in Saint-Jean-de-Muzols (on the other side of the Rhône River, in the Ardèche), the winery was then transferred to Louis and Madeleine HABRARD’s property in Gervans. It is at Louis’ and Madeleine’s, that Marie-Thérèse CROZE (a name befitting her destiny) decided to do the wine harvest in 1965.
And so it was, between the vines, that she met Marcel, one of the family’s 5 sons.
They married in 1968 and settled down a few metres away in an old large rented house. In 1985, they decided to build a new winery very close by to improve working conditions.
Laurent, one of their four children, moved to the domain in 1998.
He in turn, developed the winery, building a vinification cellar and bottle cellar.
In 2006, In 2006, a happy event took place within the domain’s vinification vats:
Our first Saint-Joseph red wine was born. From then on, we could offer wine lovers the taste of a wine from a neighbouring appellation, one of which we’d had no experience until then.
Even though the new plot of vines is fairly small, its excellent exposure and top quality “terroir” enable us to harvest and vinify grapes of remarkable quality.
In 2008, the website was created.
Its aims:
- To develop direct sales,
- To present our work as wine producers and our production methods to web visitors,
- To adopt a more ecological sales process.
>From 2008, conversion of the wine growing part of the domain to organic farming.
In the near future:
To rethink the entire set up and create a new organization based on ecological principles.
In coming years, we aim to continuously improve the quality of our wines and also the environmental quality of our production and sales methods.
